Sound healing is a practice as old as human history. It has been intimately interwoven with our daily practices, meditations, celebrations, rites of passage and sacred ceremonies. Different stories about the Creation all around the world have one thing in common – theme of sound.
The OM (AUM) sound of the ancient Indian texts -is the sound of Creation, the original vibration that rippled through pure enlightened awareness, creating the complicated and intricate patterns of our individual consciousness. The Christian sacred texts in the Bible tells us that ‘In the beginning there was the word (sound, vibration), and the word was God’ (SHA). Sufis believe that there is an abstract sound (Saut-i Sarmad) and that all space is filled with it. The vibrations of this sound are too fine to be either audible of visible to the material ears and eyes, since it is difficult for the eyes to see. The Quran refers to this sound in the words “Be! And all became.”
Chanting is a spiritual practice that includes a rhythmic repetition of a song, prayer, word or sound to unite the practitioner with the divine
Chanting has been practiced for thousands of years by Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, Muslims etc. It creates a vibratory energy that connects our body, mind and soul.
Shamans, priests, priestesses, healers, masters and medicine women and men from all around the world have been working with sounds in sacred ways, in ceremonies and to heal and bring balance to different aspects of our lives.
This shows us the extent to which ancient humans understood the power of sound and the potential it has as a healing force.
Spiritual seekers, which grow in number daily, searching answers to life outside of material realm, are beginning once more to hear the call of the sound.
There are sounds all around us – a manifestation of a constant propagation of sound waves, endlessly resonating throughout the universal sea of consciousness, as the vibrational sound forces are emitted from the movement of all matter. From the smallest molecular structures to the largest planetary systems, everything vibrates, producing sounds.
