Therapeutic sound

Ancient sages, masters and enlightened communities have, for thousands of years, understood the power and significance of sound as sacred instrument for healing and for spiritual development of the community. Sound has been interwoven into humanity’s essence, humanity’s psyche as a means of healing, understanding and transforming the body, mind, heart and spirit. Scientific and modern-day spiritual communities are only now catching up with this arcane wisdom.

The variety of sound instruments and tools that ancient civilizations used is immense. The Egyptians for example, were fascinated with the sounds of vowels, they believed that these sounds generate vibrations with healing abilities. Using a method called vocal toning, they manipulated the vowel sound using breath and voice to render therapeutic sounds. Today we use this technique as well, it is quite easy method to learn, and if you wish you can ask me to show you.

The re-emergence of sound as a complementary therapy nowadays, shows its prominence as a significant healing and transformational tool for the modern times. Instruments of therapeutic sound are now being played across the globe. It seems the healing power of sound is beginning to reappear to humanity just as we need it!

Therapeutic sound is formed through our inner and outer compassionate intentions. It involves working with dedication and intention when using multitude of instruments and our own healing voice, in that way the instruments gain power because our pure positive intentions are being absorbed into the vibrations of sounds played and voice sung.

Voice is the most powerful sound tool each of us has, as the vibrations generated come from within the body.

Sound, when used in a therapeutic manner, has a potential to bring immense changes on every level of being; physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. It can heighten our perceptions and help us transcend ordinary mental states of consciousness, it can help to bring us in a state of bliss and understanding of the sacredness of these ancient methods and techniques.

An amazing thing is that, often, when we work with therapeutic sounds during a longer period of time, these pure and clear vibrations begin to accumulate on each level of our being, creating an energetic protection – so that situations that perhaps in the past may have triggered negative responses, no longer have influence on us, instead we can begin to feel greater compassion towards others.

Therapeutic sound affects us by bringing balance to our systems, harmonizing us like a vibrational cleanser. It moves old, stagnant and unhealthy energies (in forms of our thoughts, actions, behaviour, habits, state of being, beliefs…) and brings in new nourishing, fresh energies, clean and pure harmonic vibrational energies.

Stress, dis-ease, tension, depression or other states all show we fond ourselves in a disharmonic state – on some or several level of our beings, and the sacred sounds restore our natural resonance, the natural state of our being when we are in balance. A more balanced state of being leads to more peace and harmony in our lives.

Ancient cultures knew intuitively the value of therapeutic sound. Today, the science is developing research methods and instruments for measurement of sound and its therapeutic qualities.
Often, by understand something we mean explaining it on a mental level (using logic and reason). With the help of therapeutic sounds, we learn to balance our mental (brain) and heart energy, and thus discover new realizations about ourselves and this world, that can be realized and felt by heart and not by our minds.
