It is today believed that each atom, each molecule, each cell, organ in our body has its own unique frequency, resonance frequency. It is theorized that dis-ease occurs when an area starts vibrating out of tune with its resonance frequency. The frequency is altered due to internal or external influences (e.g., genetic, chemical, physical, emotional, mental).
Research shows that with the use of sound or vibration, a change happens in autonomic (nerves, brain, spinal cord; sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system), immune (bone marrow, thymus, lymph nodes) and endocrine (hypothalamus, pituitary and pineal glands, thyroid gland, pancreas, adrenal gland, gonads) bodily system.
Earth’s (vibrational) magnetic field
There is an electromagnetic field around our planet, whose fundamental frequency value is around 7,8 Hz, on average, and this value is called the Schumann resonance.
In the last few decades, the scientists have discovered that humans are attuned to this frequency, meaning the human brainwave state in which we are most calm, relaxed and energized, corresponds to this frequency.
Dr. Kyoichi Nakagawa studied the effects of weak magnetic fields on human health and illness. His research indicates that humans have an innate dependency on the Earth’s magnetic fields, and that when these vibrations are interfered with, can potentially lead to ill health.
NASA identified so called ‘space sickness’ caused by prolonged absence from Earth’s magnetic field. Then they decided to simulate the fundamental Schumann resonance in space shuttles using magnetic field generators and this proved to be a successful move for maintaining the astronomers’ optimal health.
Dr. Kyoichi Nakagawa Japanese scientist
“The human body is essentially a large EM field that operates under the influence of electrically charged chemicals (ions). The nervous system, for example, is at least in part controlled by changing patterns of ions and of EM fields, so that every thought and/or action we execute, causes the electric transfer of signals from the brain to the corresponding limb. The existence of every cell in our body is based on electricity. A disturbance of the magnetic balance causes disfunction of the cells, causing diseases, pain, mental or emotional problems, insomnia…”

Principles of sound healing
Each aspect of our being has a unique resonant frequency (it is the frequency at which elements vibrate innately, naturally). When we vibrate in our resonant frequency, our systems are in balance, in harmony, manifesting as optimal health. If an element of our being begins to vibrate out of sync with its natural resonant frequency, ill health occurs (pain, ailment). So, physical pain for example means that one or several elements of our being vibrate in an imbalanced sound pattern or vibration. Longer periods of this condition can lead to more serious health consequences.
Sound healing means to restore an imbalanced vibrational pattern to its natural resonant frequency, and it works based on several principles:
⦁ Sympathetic resonance:
Sympathetic resonance or sympathetic vibration is a harmonic phenomenon where a passive body responds to external vibrations to which it has a harmonic likeness – ‘like vibration’, by starting to vibrate. By using sound healing tools, we introduce pure, clean vibrations (clean tones) into an area of imbalance to restore its weak or dissonant frequencies and transform them into healthy, optimal resonant frequencies.
⦁ Brainwave entrainment:
In physics, entrainment is the tendency of two vibrating bodies to lock into phase so that they start vibrating in harmony with one another. Entrainment occurs when two or more rhythmic cycles become synchronized. This principal is universal, it can be found in many areas of science, like biology, neurology, chemistry, medicine, astronomy…)
On a physical level, entrainment can occur with women who spend much time together – through chemicals and hormones that regulate menstrual cycle, their cycles begin to synchronize.
More complex example of entrainment is brainwave entrainment. It happens when electrical signals in the brain respond to outer rhythmical sensory stimulation (e.g., sound or light). As a response to a stimulation through eyes, ears or other senses, the brain emits electrical signals. These electrical signals travel throughout the brain and become things we see, sounds we hear. If the brain is presented with a light/sound rhythmic stimulus, anything like physical vibration, a flash of light or a sound pulse, it responds by synchronizing these electric cycles to the same rhythm.
For example, rhythmic drumming registers in the brain as electrical impulses and the brain then synchronizes with the drum’s rhythm. When continuous uniform drumming increases or decreases in speed, but stays consistent, the brain responds by synchronizing its own electrical cycles.
⦁ Frequency following response – FFR
Brainwaves are intimately connected to mental states of consciousness. FFR is used in sound healing to stimulate special responses from the brain, in frequency bands that lead to peace, calm and healing, to well-being.
For example, we can work sounds to introduce frequencies from 4-8 Hz (theta frequency band) to people suffering from insomnia, stress, tension, and anxiety, as theta is associated with sleep, dreaming, and deep meditative states
With sound healing it is possible to induce different effects in the mental body by stimulating different FFR’s, such as relaxation, healing, focus, creativity, grounding, etc. We can also go to deep meditative states, lucid dreaming and have moments of realization using this principle of sound healing.
⦁ Balancing left and right hemisphere of the brain
Left part of the brain is linked to linear thinking, facts, reason, scientific proof, calculus and emotional objectivity, i.e., representation of masculine principle. Right part of the brain is linked to creativity, intuition, empathy, imagination, rhythm, arts, i.e., feminine principles.
Masculine and feminine principles are present with each of us, and when they are balanced, we experience health and well-being. Today the world as a collective of human beings, is experiencing an age of significant imbalance in favour of masculine principles.

By applying sound tools and techniques, a synchronization of brain’s two hemispheres occurs (you can read more about that here)
For example, we can play two different frequencies (108 Hz and 100 Hz) to produce a resulting frequency of 8 Hz (alpha-theta range). This frequency stimulates positive physical, mental and/or emotional responses.
And this is where I´ll stop, and give your brain a little rest. There is still a lot to cover because our brain is really a remarkable organ. From the ancient Egyptian mummifications to 18th-century scientific research on “globules” and neurons, there is evidence of neuroscience practice throughout the early periods of history. Few hundred years later we are still amazed by it, and with the modern technology we are discovering new and surprising things about human brain every day.
